Unpause Your Social Media Campaigns

Strategies to aid your marketing

Many companies made the choice to pause their social media marketing campaigns when the pandemic began and are just now starting to promote them again. However, simply unpausing doesn’t ensure your campaigns will perform like they did before.

Social media use surged to unseen levels over the last several months. Entire social lives began existing exclusively online. This has opened up a range of opportunities for businesses to market on social media, but they should keep a few things in mind as this is a much different climate than what they were accustomed to.

Read the room. Group mentalities are constantly shifting and even more so in tenuous times. When the pandemic first made itself known, there was a sense of urgency and confusion as people prepared for the unknown and struggled to learn what was happening. However, in later months, this has since subsided and now people generally want to feel alleviated from COVID-related anxieties and fears. Keep an eye out for mood shifts as they can happen very quickly.

Find the right tone. It’s a difficult line to walk, but customers generally want to see their preferred brands acknowledge the times we live in are not normal. However, they don’t want to feel like their feelings and fears are being exploited for the benefit of a brand. Try to be sensitive to the pandemic and its toll, but don’t come off like you’re exploiting it.

Get back up. The decision to pause social media campaigns is never an easy one. However, with the surge of usage on those platforms, your company very well may have benefited from keeping them going this year. Try to get them back up and running as soon as possible and start rebuilding brand awareness.
